The NeoLucida is a drawing aid that allows you to trace what you see. It’s a modern reinterpretation of the camera lucida, an indispensable drawing tool popular in the days before photography. We believe camera lucidas can help people draw and understand art history in provocative new ways. In 2013 we launched a Kickstarter to help make this remarkable device widely available to anyone who loves to draw from life. More than 25,000 NeoLucidas have already found their way to artists and designers all over the world.
Introducing the NeoLucida XL: Now even easier to trace what you see.
After nearly two years of testing and prototypes, we’re excited to launch the NeoLucida XL. So many enthusiastic supporters backed our first prism-based NeoLucida in 2013 to get drawing. But when people said “This is hard!”, we nodded our heads because we know that these old tools are not magic shortcuts to masterpieces.
But I spent the last two years thinking about ways to make tracing from real life a little easier, starting with making an extra large viewer for drawing. So with a totally new design and some clever material engineering, the NeoLucida XL is lightweight, inexpensive, and easier to use for beginners or seasoned pros.
The NeoLucida XL Kickstarter Campaign is now over.
